Hotel in Charlottenburg
The urban district of Charlottenburg with the Kurfürstendamm as its dynamic central axis counts among the best-known of Berlin’s many city quarters (or “Kieze”, as the locals call them). The western part of Berlin between Zoo station and the Olympic Stadium has much to offer. Our Hotel Louisa´s Place is an ideal starting point for in-depth explorations of Berlin past and present. Discover the Kurfürstendamm as a vibrant shopping boulevard, the Zoological Gardens, Charlottenburg Palace with its rich history, and Messe Berlin, Berlin’s major trade fair centre.
The district’s appearance today mirrors its varied history. Historic landmarks such as Charlottenburg Palace, the department store KaDeWe and the Kaiser Wilhelm Memorial Church attract visitors and Berliners alike in their thousands every year. Families count a trip to the zoo among the highlights of any trip to Berlin. During the colder months, Zoo Aquarium represents an excellent alternative. Charlottenburg is also among the premier addresses for art and culture. The Kurfürstendamm neighbourhood has been home to a cluster of diverse theatres since the Twenties. Numerous galleries are located in the side streets. Business travellers are drawn to the trade fair grounds at the Radio Tower. The trade fair halls and the newly erected City Cube Berlin can be reached within a few minutes of our hotel Charlottenburg.
Charlottenburg’s best-known landmark, the boulevard Kürfürstendamm, runs right past our hotel in Charlottenburg. The avenue extends for 3.5 km between Breitscheidplatz and Rathenauerplatz. A stroll along the Ku’damm, as the street name has been abbreviated by pragmatic Berlin tongues, will afford you a close-up look at the street’s varied life. Shops, restaurants and bars pull in tourists and Berliners alike. In the evenings, a diverse range of shows and plays can be seen in the area’s theatres. Our hotel, Louisa´s Place, is located right in the most attractive section of the street. We are surrounded by numerous exclusive boutiques and jewellers and by flagship stores belonging to the most prestigious international fashion labels. Berliners are especially proud of the street’s transformation from a royal bridleway to today’s majestic avenue. The street’s 125th birthday in 2011 was celebrated with all due pomp and ceremony.
Our hotel Charlottenburg is located right on Kurfürstendamm itself. Excellent connections to Berlin’s public transport network ensure that all of Berlin’s landmarks are within easy reach. Adenauerplatz, which has both U-Bahn (underground rail) connections and bus stops, is right in front of Louisa’s Place. Charlottenburg train station can be reached on foot in minutes. A remarkable range of city architecture in the Fasanenstraße/Kantstraße area awaits discovery by visitors to Berlin. The Kant Triangle with its large, mobile sail comes into view from as far away as Savignyplatz and greets flâneurs from afar. On the opposite side of the road, Berlin Stock Exchange can be recognized by its characteristic “cockscomb” roof. In front of the stock exchange, the historic façade of the Theater des Westens (Theatre of the West) forms a perfect foil to the modern environment. Historical and modern landmarks sit cheek by jowl here, and the eclectic mix invites you to stroll, to stop and stare, and to linger.
